KISLAY – Child Marriage Prevention

Introduction about Project –

The project KISHLAY aims to uproot the evil of Child Marriage prevailing in the selected villages of Madhupur block and Saraiyahat block of Deoghar and Dumka Distirct in Jharkhand through formation and strengthening of Adolescent group. Child Marriage prevalence is an important impediment to achieve adolescent wellbeing. The project focuses on empowering at risk and already married adolescents, girls in particular, with SRHR, LSE, providing alternative to child marriage and mitigate the impact on married girls through enhancing access to education opportunities and improve retention in school for girls through improving school safety, preventing drop out and removal of financial barriers with the help of collective social action.

Project Objective –

Objective 1

• Strengthening adolescents as protective asset and equip them with knowledge and skills to navigate the challenges and opportunities in the transitions from puberty to adulthood by empowering at risk, and already married adolescents, girls in particular, with life skills education (LSE), CSE and SRHR information in Madhupur( Deoghar) and Saraiyahaat(Dumka) block of Jharkhand.

Objective – 2

• Providing alternatives to child marriage and mitigate the impact on married girls, through enhancing access to education, economic opportunities, and child protection systems for girls and their families in Madhupur( Deoghar) and Saraiyahaat(Dumka) block of Jharkhand.

Objective – 3

• Increasing access to quality youth-friendly SRHR services That are available, affordable, acceptable and appropriate) for unmarried and married young people of Madhupur( Deoghar) and Saraiyahaat (Dumka) block of Jharkhand.

Objective – 4

• Changing social norms, Challenging harmful customs, traditions, norms and practices in addressing child marriage in Madhupur( Deoghar) and Saraiyahaat(Dumka) block of Jharkhand.

Objective – 5

• Influencing legal and policy frameworks for a supportive legal environment to address issues in Madhupur( Deoghar) and Saraiyahaat(Dumka) block of Jharkhand.
